Young Volunteers Organisation (YVO) is inviting applications from students and educational institutions for its Future Leaders Programme (FLP), aimed at introducing social entrepreneurship to young minds.

The programme also combines leadership and social service, and makes social service more accessible to youth in the age bracket of 16-25 years.

More than 200 students from different institutes like Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi, IIM Ahmedabad, Harvard Business School, KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (Belgaum), Kashibai Navale Medical College Pune, Rockwell International School Hyderabad and more have participated and benefitted from this programme, YVO stated in a press communique recently.

Siddharth Ladsariya, founding volunteer, YVO and FLP, said, “Imparting social entrepreneurship skills to the youth can play a significant role in holistic development of young people while also allowing them to contribute to the development of their communities. The skills that participants gain from YVO’s Future Leaders Programme are beneficial for youths interested in becoming active members of an organisation or society.”

“FLP offers a great platform and an opportunity to participants to bond with like-minded people and helps students enhance their leadership, teamwork, communication, decision making and critical thinking skills. We hope the FLP experience sparks a passion in students and helps them see that they are the true leaders who can positively impact the world,” added Ladsariya.

The classes for the fresh batch of FLP will commence on March 6 and the last date for submission of application is February 18. The FLP is an online programme and candidates can enrol from anywhere across the world.

Each batch, with a maximum of 50 students, will have eight sessions of at least one hour each, divided over four weekends. YVO does not charge a fee from FLP participants.

“FLP is an amazing programme that widens your understanding of the challenges and necessities in the world. The energy of participants throughout the programme was contagious. It’s also a great way to connect with a group of distinguished professionals from reputed institutions who contribute to accelerate India’s development,” said Anamika Singh, an MBA student of Harvard Business School and a participant of FLP’s first batch.

Tanishka Patil, a second-year engineering student at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, Belgaum and a participant of FLP’s third batch, said that FLP taught her the importance of gratitude, team work, decision making, communication and critical thinking – the skills every leader needs to make a positive difference.

“My favourite activity was the online fund-raising campaign. It also made me realise that the more privileges I have, the more opportunity and responsibility I have to help those who don't. FLP will go on to be one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had and I highly recommend it to everyone,” she said

Aspiring candidates can apply for FLP and register online on the official website of Young Volunteers Organisation.
