Xavier School of Management (XLRI) students took home a message of resilience, integrity, values and virtues at the 20th graduation ceremony for corporate and Virtual Interactive Learning programmes.
The Virtual Interactive Learning (VIL) programmes saw a total of 562 students graduating in two batches of Postgraduate Certificate in Business Management (PGCBM) this year, two batches of Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management (PGCHRM), one batch of Postgraduate Certificate in Business Analytics (PGCBA), one batch of Postgraduate Certificate in Finance (PGCF), one batch of Postgraduate Certificate in Senior Leadership (PGCSL) and one batch of Executive Diploma in Advanced Management for Senior Managers Program (EDAMP).
For corporate programmes, 26 students graduated in Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management (PGCHRM) - Accenture 2022 and 42 and 52 students in two batches of executive diploma programmes.
N.S. Rajan, former CEO of IDFC Foundation and group CHRO and CMO at IDFC Bank, was the chief guest on the occasion. His message to the students: passion and execution combined with perfection will help you achieve goals.
“The special ambience at XLRI can be experienced and not explained. XLRI is a forerunner in embracing virtual learning. Indicating the success of the new training programmes that we have created, the XLRI director is taking it to greater heights. The best of me is behind me. The best of you is surely ahead of you. I see in front of me those who will shape the future of the country as you embark on this exciting journey,” said Rajan who graduated from XLRI in 1983.
“Be resilient. Show courage and conviction in combating the crisis and make a comeback when things settle down. Knowing your ignorance is the first step to wisdom. Support your team, build their knowledge and go to their core areas. Your character is built on values and it reflects in your conduct and behaviour. Values are shaped by parents, family and teachers. Be a role model and an exemplar who can live up to values. Doing things right is different from doing right things. Compromise on tactics if required, but not on values,” Rajan said.
XLRI director Father Paul Fernandes advised the students to be professional. “Follow the integrity, values and virtues of other professionals. Be authentic, be your true personality and be accountable as you navigate through the world. Be universal in your thinking and approach. Be a learner, light and guidance will help you to make the right choices in life.”
