Schools across West Bengal will resume classes on Monday, June 3 following the conclusion of Summer vacation on Sunday, June 2. The summer vacation across schools in the state was declared on April 22 to provide relief to students from the impending heatwave.

A section of teachers had demanded the reopening of schools after temperatures across the state nose-dived following the recent rainfall. They suggested that schools should be opened as the temperatures have dropped and the official calendar for the summer vacation be followed.

Most government schools across the state are being used as polling booths for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The seventh and last phase of polling is scheduled to take place on June 1.
