West Bengal launches Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021

Summary

Eligibility criterion for the scholarship scheme has been reduced from 75 pe rcent marks in HS and Madhyamik to 60 per cent

The scholarships range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 per month, depending on the candidate’s chosen field of study.

The West Bengal government has launched a portal for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021 and also lowered the eligibility criteria. Students who score 65% or more in their Class X (Madhyamik) and Class XII (Higher Secondary) can apply for the scholarship now. The earlier cut-off was 75%.

“Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee decided to bring down the eligibility criteria for this scholarship to ensure that more students can be benefitted. Till now the State has disbursed Rs 7,62,858 to students under this scholarship scheme,” West Bengal education minister Bratya Basu said while launching the 2021 scholarship scheme portal.

Scholarship amount per month:

Higher Secondary (XI and XII): Rs 1,000
UG (Arts and Commerce): Rs 1,000
UG (Science & professional courses): Rs 1,500
PG (Arts & Commerce): Rs 2,000
PG (Science and professional courses) Rs 2,500
UG (Engineering / Medical/Honours): Rs 5,000
Diploma (Polytechnic / GNM / Para-medical): Rs 1,500

Online applications began: October 7, 2021
Last date to apply: February 15, 2022
Scholarship distribution: March 2022
