The Railway Ministry has recently declared that it will be recruiting officers for the Indian Railway Management Services (IRMS) via the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023. The Civil Services Examination will be held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The declaration is further in contradiction to an earlier order which stated recruitment to the service will take place with a specially designed IRMS Examination, to be conducted by the UPSC from 2023.
"The Ministry of Railways, in consultation with UPSC and DoPT, has decided that recruitment to Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) will be done through the Civil Services Examination to be conducted by the UPSC for the year 2023," it added in a statement.
The UPSC CSE 2023 notification is out for 1,105 vacancies. The last date to apply for the UPSC CSE 2023 exam is 21 February. It must further be noted that the rules mentioned in the UPSC CSE 2023 notification will remain the same till the exam process is completed.
