Due to the "scorching" heat, the Uttar Pradesh government has extended the summer vacation in UP schools until June 26. The earlier reopening date for the schools was June 15. A notification regarding the extension of the summer vacation in UP in 2023 was released by the basic education department.
"According to the Director of Education Basic's consent, council schools and recognised basic schools governed by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council stated that the summer vacation period will run from May 20 to June 26".
The department gave instructions regarding the 9th International Yoga Day, ordering that all schools open one day prior to June 21 and that proper cleaning arrangements be made. Additionally, the department ordered that a yoga exercise programme be organised, during which students would receive treats, fruits, and clean drinking water.
