Top 6 Points to Keep In Mind on UPSC CMS 2024 Exam Day
- Writing the Exam: Candidates must write the papers themselves and are not permitted to use a scribe, except under specific circumstances for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- Negative Marking: There is a penalty for wrong answers in the objective-type question papers. One-third of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Multiple Answers: If a candidate selects more than one answer, it will be considered wrong, even if one of the answers is correct.
- Unanswered Questions: No penalty will be applied for questions left blank.
- Prohibited Items: Candidates cannot bring items such as bags, books, notes, electronic devices, and other unauthorized materials into the exam hall.
- Exam Conduct: Unfair means, communication with other candidates, or misbehaviour will result in severe penalties, including disqualification from future UPSC exams.
Candidates will be appearing for two written papers, each carrying a maximum of 250 marks and to be completed within two hours.
According to UPSC, Paper I will cover General Medicine and Paediatrics, consisting of 120 questions–96 from General Medicine and 24 from Paediatrics. Paper II will focus on Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, and Preventive and Social Medicine, with each section containing 40 questions.
