The UGC NET exam date is out for Phase 4 and Phase 5 of December 2022 on its official website. The National Testing Agency will be conducting the Phase 4 exam on 11 and 12 March 2023, followed by Phase 5 on 13 and 15 March 2023. The authorities have already taken Phase 3 examination for eight subjects from 3 to 6 March 2023.
UGC NET Eligibility
To be eligible for proceeding further with the selection process, applicants must firstly understand the UGC NET 2023 eligibility criteria and thereafter fulfil every requirement. Applicants who intend to appear for the exam must check the latest UGC NET eligibility, that focuses on educational qualification, number of attempts and age limit. Applicants must make it a point to check and confirm their eligibility prior to applying for the NTA UGC NET exam. The upper age limit for applicants applying for the JRF position in UGC NET is at present fixed at 30 years for Reserved category and 35 years for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/ Transgender/Women. However, there is no such age limit for applying to the Assistant Professor positions.
UGC NET Reservation Policy
The reservation policy of the Government of India is applied to the UGC NET exam. As per this reservation policy, the Central Universities and Institutions which are deemed to be Universities, 10% of the seats are reserved for the category the General-Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS), 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe (ST) and 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non Creamy layer”(OBC-NCL). It must further be noted that each of these categories even have 4% reservations horizontally for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as described in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act, 2016).
