The UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) 2022 exams for the December 2021 and June 2022 cycles will be held in in the first or second week of June 2022, University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Jagdesh Kumar has tweeted.

The exam dates are yet to be finalised and will be announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) soon.

UGC-NET determines the eligibility of candidates applying for the roles of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.

The exam is usually conducted twice a year, but the cycles have been merged because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, too, the two cycles of UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 were merged and conducted in computer-based test mode in three phases between November 20 and January 5. The first phase was held from November 20 to December 5. The second was held from December 24 to 27, and the third was held on January 4 and 5, 2021.

Out of 1,26,6,509 registered candidates, 6,71,288 appeared and only 52,857 candidates qualified last year.
