UGC NET June Result 2024 Normalisation Process

The NTA uses a normalisation method to ensure fairness in scoring across different shifts. The candidates' raw marks are converted into a UGC NET score (percentile) to account for any variation in difficulty levels across shifts.

The UGC NET June 2024 session was initially scheduled for June 18, but the exam was cancelled due to allegations that the question paper had been leaked on the darknet two days prior.

Following an investigation, it was determined that the exam may not have been leaked, leading to the rescheduled exam, which took place between August 21 and September 4.

UGC NET June Exam 2024 Format

The exam consists of two papers: a general paper (Paper 1) common to all candidates and a subject-specific paper (Paper 2) tailoured to the candidates' field of specialisation. UGC NET offers Paper 2 in 83 subjects, including languages like Hindi, English, Tamil, and Sanskrit, as well as disciplines such as mass communication, labour welfare, and library sciences.

The two papers are conducted in a single session, lasting three hours, and consist of objective type multiple choice questions.

After the provisional answer keys were released, many candidates reported significant errors, with claims of over 30 incorrect answers in certain subject papers, out of the total 150 questions.

UGC NET is conducted biannually, in June and December, to assess the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowships (valid for three years from the date of the result enabling  candidates to pursue research roles), and Assistant Professor positions (this is valid for life) across universities in India.
