University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently declared a draft National Credit Framework (NCrF) awareness workshops to be organised on a joint basis by a high-level committee constituted by the government of India.
The major primary purpose of the workshop is to realise and work on the intent of the national education policy (NEP) 2020. The NEP 2020 works towards promoting the integration of academic and vocational areas for achieving its multidisciplinary education. The NCrF is also a comprehensive framework which enables integration from three domains including academic learning, vocational learning, and experiential learning ranging from school to higher education.
For raising awareness amongst shareholders, workshops for half days are also being organised. These shareholders will also be learning about how the NCrF makes a learner move between different academic and vocational domains.
These particular workshops will be steered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) in five different zones- IIT Delhi in the north, IIT Bombay in the West, IIT Guwahati in the north-east zone, IIT Bhubaneshwar in the east-central zone and IIT Madras in the south.
The University Grants Commission has requested the vice-chancellors and representatives of these institutions to attend the workshop in the IITs in their respective zones.
