PMRF: West Bengal received the highest fellowship scheme

The Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) Scheme was introduced in 2018, and Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi informed the Lok Sabha that West Bengal has the largest number of eligible recipients.

West Bengal had 19 beneficiaries in 2018 according to the minister's figures, which rose to 32 in 2019. However, the number of beneficiaries skyrocketed in 2020, rising to 149, then to 186 in 2021. However, a reduction was seen in 2020 (up until May), when there were 155 fewer recipients.

Uttar Pradesh, which now has 299 PMRF recipients, is the second-highest state after West Bengal, with 11 in 2018, 22 in 2019, 78 in 2020, 85 in 2021, and 103 in 2022. (up to May).
