In a recent notification regarding the reconstitution of Board structure and administrative framework of JEE Apex Board, the Ministry of Education has declared that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be managing all information technology related (software) support and back-end activities for the pre and post examination work. This also includes online submission of application forms.
The notification has also stated that the NTA may seek support from NIC/C-DAC, as and when required.
The board will be the apex authority for setting up the policies, rules and regulations for the conduct of JEE Main Exam with NTA providing administrative and logistic for conducting JEE (Main) across the country.
In an earlier notification, the education ministry had announced the reconstitution of JEE Apex Board (JAB) for smooth conduction of both JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) Entrance Examination for the year 2024 and 2025.
The constitution of the new board was required as the term of the previous JEE Apex Board had completed.
Who are the new members of JAB?
The new board has Professor S.K. Jain, the Vice Chancellor of BHU as its honorary chairman. The other members include Director, IIT Bombay, Director, IIT Guwahati, Director, IIT Madras, Director, NIT Rourkela, Director, NIT Surathkal, Director, IIIT Hyderabad, Director IIIT (PPP) Lucknow, Director, IITM Gwalior.
Apart from them, the board also include representatives from the state governments of Madhya Pradesh, Assam/Manipur, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Representative of Deemed University (Punjab Engineering College), Chairman of CBSE, Director General, NIC, Director General, C-DAC, Additional Secretary/Joint Secretary (TE), MoE.
The Director General of NTA will serve as the Member Secretary of the board.
The JAB of the IIT system will continue to assume responsibility for conducting JEE (Advanced).
