NSE Academy Limited (NAL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), has signed an agreement with Emkay Global Financial Services Limited to launch a programme on ‘Definitive Course on Blockchain and Decentralised Finance’ in joint collaboration with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu.

Vikaas M Sachdeva, CEO, Emkay Investment Managers Limited (EIML), the asset management arm of the financial services company, said, “At EIML, we believe in empowering the wealth advisors as they are the most important link in the entire chain of dissemination of financial advice. Their ability to stay abreast of the latest developments in today’s world is a critical part of the client’s wealth creation process.  We are proud to offer this programme with two prestigious institutions like the NSE Academy and IIM Jammu. Blockchain will specifically play an important role in safeguarding and keeping a record of transactions.”

According to NSE, with an objective to benefit the financial community in general, and wealth advisors in particular about new age investment avenues, the programme is designed to offer experiential methodology, interactive virtual expert led session, outcome-based delivery, tangible takeaways and outcome-based improvement in knowledge and skill levels.

Abhilash Misra, chief executive officer, NSE Academy Ltd., said, “The purpose of this course is to help educate professionals interested in learning how to assess and evaluate existing blockchain networks, applications, and digital assets. It also helps those keen to develop their own solutions by utilising the unique features of blockchain. This programme focuses on this technology’s most overlooked principle: its economics. We are elated to support this initiative for financial advisors together with EIML and IIM Jammu, enabling them to acquire future ready skills for the eventual benefit of the new age and sophisticated investors.”

According to NSE Academy, savvy Investors have started keenly looking at non-traditional asset classes and investment opportunities like DeFi, NFTs and other blockchain enabled offerings. In today’s day and age, it is imperative that the wealth managers are well equipped and skilled to give their clients right insights into these technology-based asset classes.

Nitin Upadhyay, associate professor, IT Systems & Analytics from IIM Jammu said, “Future technologies like blockchain and DeFi are the next new, transformative technology. Enrolment in this course will help professionals in the understanding of the complex world of digital currency.”

“While being a part of the revolution, studying blockchain and decentralised finance can give access to this digital currency revolution, and help build a more equitable and transparent ecosystem. This is an expanding sector of employment, with a growing number of promising career opportunities available,” said Pankaj K Agarwal, associate professor, Finance and Accounting, IIM Jammu.
