NMC releases fresh guidelines for the MBBS academic year 2022-23; academic calendar also released

The National Medical Commission (NMC), Undergraduate Medical Education Board issues fresh guidelines for the MBBS batch 2022-23, which is set to start on 15 November, 2022. The commission also released the academic calendar for the MBBS academic year 2022-23 on the official website- nmc.org.in

The total duration for the MBBS course will be 66 months. According to the academic calendar, first year students will have subjects like anatomy, physiology and biochemistry for 13 months from 15 November, 2022 to 15 December, 2023. The MBBS students in their second professional year will have subjects like pathology, microbiology and pharmacology spanning over 13 months from 16 December, 2023 to 15 January, 2025.

The third year will be split into two parts where in part one students will be learning forensic medicine and toxicology and community medicine or PSM for a total of 10.5 months. The second part of their third year consists of 17.5 months and will begin on December 2025 and end in May 2027 in subjects including general surgery, general medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, ENT and Ophthalmology.

As per the CRMI 2021 Regulations, candidates will be required to complete a one-year internship starting form 1 June, 2027 to 31 May, 2028. Courses for the PG candidates will begin from 1 July, 2028.
