NMC: MBBS students will not be allowed more than 4th attempts for first-year exam

According to the Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship Regulations, 2021, the student accepted into a Graduate Medical Education Programme shall not be recognised to have completed his graduation until he completes his rotating medical internship

No MBBS student will be permitted to take the first-year Professional test more than four times, according to the National Medical Commission (NMC), who just issued the Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023.

No student shall be permitted to continue the undergraduate medical course after nine (09) years from the date of enrollment into the course, according to NMC. "Provided under no circumstances the student shall be given more than four (04) attempts for the first year (First Professional MBBS).

In addition to the NMC curriculum and the curriculum required by their respective Universities for graduating students, the medical institutions shall offer a variety of choice-based credit courses of limited duration; provided, however, that the meaningful imparting of these choice-based credit courses shall be given due weightage during accreditation and rating of the medical institutions by the Medical Assessment Agency.
