A three-day international conference on Machine Vision and Augmented Intelligence (MAI) 2022 Gadkari at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur began with a call to young professionals, researchers, engineers, students and start-ups to help develop world-class Infrastructure for the country.

The conference was virtually inaugurated by Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari. He highlighted the initiative taken by his ministry to design and develop Artificial Intelligence-based devices to control road accidents, detect black spots on roads and sleeping drivers at the wheel and to assess the quality of roads.

Gadkari expressed concern over the violation of traffic rules and how it can be controlled through Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning-based system.

He also discussed the pilot project implemented with the help of the ministry of road transport highways in Nagpur and Ghaziabad regarding smart traffic system.

NIT Jamshedpur director Karunesh Kumar Shukla called upon research to work in this field to plug the technological gap between India and other developed countries.

The nest session of the conference was addressed by Michalis Zervakis of Antonakakis Marios Technical University in Crete, Greece, on breast cancer and brain tumour detection with the help of Artificial Intelligence. Akbar Sheikh Akbari of Leeds Beckett University, UK, presented research work on the ear recognition system.

The convener of the conference, Koushlendra Kumar Singh, proposed the vote of thanks.
