The mobile phones at Advocate Somenath Chakraborty's home in Bally Nischinda of Howrah haven't stopped ringing ever since the results of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2024) were declared.
Sagnik, the 17-year-old son of Somenath and Pampa Chakraborty has secured an All India Rank of 33 and the first position in the state in the recently concluded examinations.
A brilliant student since his childhood days, Sagnik took up Commerce following his ICSE board examinations with the sole aim to follow the footsteps of his father in pursuing a career in law.
"I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought there is something wrong with the website," said Sagnik while speaking to The Telegraph Online Edugraph.
A student of St Thomas Church School, Howrah, Sagnik has proved his academic brilliance since he was a child.
"He has always been a meritorious student. We never forced him to do anything. He was preparing for the exam for the last two years. We were sure that he would crack the examination, but such a brilliant performance was completely unexpected," said Somnath Chakraborty, Sagnik's father and an advocate of Howrah district court.
"He loves reading books. Be it academic or novels, you will always find him with one," said Pampa Chakraborty.
An avid fan of Brazilian football star Neymer, Sagnik loves to dribble through all the challenges of life and wishes to take up corporate law as a career.
Sagnik's elder sister, Suchetana Chakraborty too, is pursuing her studies in law and is a fourth year law student at Nirma University, Ahmedabad. His teachers at school are also proud of his achievements.
"Sagnik Chakraborty is a brilliant student of the Commerce stream. We are really proud of him. My best wishes are with him in all his future endeavours,"said PC Daniel, Principal of St Thomas Church School, Howrah to The Telegraph Online Edugraph.
