On Wednesday, the National Medical Commission (NMC) published the updated schedule and curriculum for the MBBS 2022–23 batch. The updated schedule is now available at nmc.org.in, the official NMC website.

The updated schedule states that phase one of the MBBS academic year will now end on 15 December 2023, with a 13-month delay. The amount of time available is almost 42 weeks, during which the preliminary/university examination and results will take almost 10 weeks, vacations will last a total of three weeks, and public holidays will last for two weeks. In the first phase of the MBBS, 1638 hours will be allotted for teaching and learning.

After then, from 16 December 2023 to 15  January 2025, 1638 hours (or 39 weeks) of coursework will be required for the 2nd phase of the MBBS programme. The time available is 42 weeks out of the 13 months (or around 57 weeks) given.

From 16  January 2025 to 30 November 2025, the 3rd phase of the MBBS programme will be taught. The time allotted is 10.5 months (roughly 46 weeks), and the time available is 35 weeks (aside from 11 weeks, of which 6 weeks are used for preliminary/university exams, 3 weeks are set aside for vacation, and 2 weeks are designated for public holidays).

The 4th phase of the MBBS programme will run from 1 December 2025, to 15 May 2027. The time available is 57 weeks out of the 17.5 months (or roughly 78 weeks) allotted.

The new calendar states that the degree will take 6864 hours to complete in total, with clinical placements taking 132 weeks.
