Kolkata Police in collaboration with IEMLabs to hold Hackathon 2022

Kolkata Police, in collaboration with IEMLabs, is all set to host Hackathon 2022 – “An Initiative to Ensure a Cyber-Crime Free Environment & Encourage Ethical Hacking”. It is scheduled to take place on July 29 from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM at Netaji Indoor Stadium. The registrations have been opened Tuesday onwards and will remain open until July 26. All cybersecurity enthusiasts and professionals interested in participating can register through Hackathon’s official website: https://kolkatapolicehackathon.in/, by paying a Rs 300 registration fee. The contest yields a range of exciting and lucrative prizes: 1st Prize of Rs 1,50,000; 2nd Prize of Rs 1,00,000; and 3rd Prize of Rs 75,000. At a press conference announcing the contest on Tuesday, the Kolkata Police expressed that this event has been organised to make cyberspace more secure for common people and intends to bring together a community of cybersecurity professionals and enthusiasts. “With increasing usage of the internet, cybercrime is also on the rise everyday. There are different forms of such crimes. Hence, collaboration with young minds is required to counter the menace and hav[ing] an exchange of ideas is the need of the hour. This Hackathon is one unique initiative to help students in their future endeavours and career opportunities,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Hari Kumar Kusumakar.

The tagline for the contest reads: “Join a dynamically growing hacking community and take your cybersecurity skills to the next level through the most captivating, gamified, hands-on training experience!” With this, the Kolkata Police is also offering a chance of an internship for all participants at the Kolkata Police Cyber Lab.
