In order to identify skill gaps and create upskilling and bridge courses for Indian workers, the governments of India and Germany have decided to conduct a skill mapping project. The decision to promote vocational education and training (VET) was made during the 12th meeting of the Indo-German joint working group, which was convened today in New Delhi.

In accordance with German standards, the discussions at the meeting attempted to institutionalise a standard method for VET to satisfy the skill requirements in key industries.

The two partner nations discussed developing a framework for connecting employers and understanding how skilled certified workers could contribute to economic development. Mutual accreditation of training providers in both nations will also be undertaken through G2G, G2B, and B2B tie-ups with pertinent institutions that have international standards for training, assessment, and certifications.

Being one of the most sustainable strategies for skill development, India proposes virtual and physical exchange programmes in the academic and professional fields that are centred on apprenticeship training. Students will be able to earn while they work on projects in both countries.
