The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell is set to conduct the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) 2024, across multiple shifts, providing different sets of questions for each shift. Recognising that the difficulty levels across shifts may vary despite efforts to maintain equivalence, the MHT CET will implement a Normalisation Method to ensure fair evaluation for all candidates.

The normalisation method is an established practice used in large educational selection tests across India, aiming to ensure that candidates are neither advantaged nor disadvantaged due to variations in the difficulty level of the examination.

Under the said method, the scores will be based on percentiles. This method transforms candidates' raw scores into a scale from 100 to 0 for each examination session. The percentile score reflects the relative performance of candidates, indicating the percentage of examinees who scored equal to or below a particular percentile.

The top scorer in each session will receive a percentile of 100, and other candidates' scores will be converted accordingly. These normalised percentile scores will be calculated up to seven decimal places to minimize ties and ensure accuracy.

Step-by-step guide for the preparation of MHT CET 2024 final scores

By implementing the Normalisation Method, the MHT CET aims to provide a fair and equitable assessment for all candidates, regardless of the shift in which they take the examination.
