To transform the current digital learning management system into one that is more assessment-focused, researchers from IIT Madras have partnered with the Department of School Education of Tamil Nadu.

IIT Madras will employ its expertise in AI and data science to alter the Education Management Information System currently used by Tamil Nadu students and improve evaluations and modernise the framework for distributing educational resources.

To raise the standard of instruction for 90 lakh students, the new learning management system would be implemented in 6,000 government schools' newly constructed high-tech labs.

The construction of assessments, performance evaluation that includes fraud detection, dashboards to track student learning progression, and monitoring at the school and district levels are just a few of the tools that researchers will develop.

Dr. Nandan Sudarsanam, an associate professor in the department of management studies and a key figure in the Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RBCDSAI), is the IIT Madras lead researcher for this partnership.

The initiative will be led by faculty, students, project associates, and channel partners of RBCDSAI.

With its usage of AI and ML, this project would improve learning for both teachers and students in Tamil Nadu. AI and ML can offer 24/7 universal education, personalised mentorship for students based on their weak areas, support the administration in grading papers, measure learning patterns, etc.
