Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras are collaborating with the Inspire Institute of Sports (IIS) to develop a low-cost boxing analytics platform called the 'Smartboxer,' for increasing India’s boxing medal tally at the Olympics 2024. This particular software is designed to give feedback and other performance assessments through the Internet of Things (loT) enabled wearable sensors and cameras.
To gauge the boxer’s performance at IIS, the analytics of “Smartboxer” will be improved as a response to IIS’s suggestions. This will permit boxers and coaches to gain the most out of the programme.
The Indian government has figured out a few major sports to meet the goal of more medals at the 2024 Olympics such as: badminton, hockey, athletics, wrestling, boxing, weightlifting and shooting. This study will use IoT-based sensors and cameras. The researchers of IIT Madras and IIS are also aiming to apply for a patent for the ‘Smartboxer’.
