IIT Bombay’s final placement drive takes off on a good note

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay’s placement season started off with a good note on day 1, and slot 1.1 witnessed the participation of 28 companies. 

For domestic jobs, Google, Miscosoft, Qualcomm, Boston Consulting Group, Airbus, Bain and company made the highest number of offers, while the lucrative International offers were made by Uber and Rubrik. 

“We are yet to receive confirmation from a few companies. So far 201 pre-placement offers (PPO) have been accepted by students, which is higher than last year. Also a PSU has made a few offers,” said a statement released by IIT Bombay.

“The regular recruiters have shown faith in IIT Bombay and we are anticipating more offers from these companies. Amongst the sectors, prominent hiring was done by IT/Software, Core Engineering and Consulting,” the statement highlighted.

For Day-1, high compensation-packages were offered by:

(Domestic offers in Rs)

Millennium - 62 lakh/annum

WorldQuant - 51 lakh/annum

Blackstone - 46.62 lakh/annum

(international offers)

Uber – USD 2.74 lakh/annum

Rubrik – USD 1.21 lakh/annum

The jobs offered by recruiting organisations are divided into various categories based on the gross compensation packages. Factors other than compensation packages,such as job profile, past association etc, may sometimes influence the classification of a company.

I invite the recruiting organizations and graduating students to work on finding the best match between expectations of the recruiters and the aspirations of the students,” said Subhasis Chaudhuri, K. N. Bajaj Chair Professor and director, IIT Bombay.

The key focus of the placement office is to prepare students for their placement and internships. Students were exposed to challenging and research-based academics, and a host of sports along with cultural and organisational activities on this campus. “Boot Camps” and preparatory programs were arranged to enhance the communication skills, group dynamics and interview skills.
