The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta will draw up a comprehensive strategy of innovative management development training for civil services at multiple levels.
The director of IIM Calcutta, Uttam Kumar Sarkar, has signed a Statement of Intent with Hemang Jani, secretary, Capacity Building Commission, Government of India.
The Capacity Building Commission was set up in April 2021 to build credibility and mould a uniform approach to capacity building on the basis of collaboration and co-sharing. It is an independent body that has complete executive and financial autonomy.
“Our collaboration with the Capacity Building Commission of the Government of India is another instance of our commitment to public good as an eminent institution of management education in the country. IIM Calcutta will lend its expertise to the design and execution of training programmes for our country’s civil servants and support them through enhanced learning competences in their efforts of effective governance,” Sarkar said.
IIM Calcutta has been recognised for its thought leadership through research and teaching modalities in the field of management and has a well-established reputation for delivering world-class training for practising managers and administrators, both in the private and public sectors. IIM Calcutta has demonstrated its national capacity building through its executive education programme and customised training and consulting assignments.
Bhaskar Chakrabarti, dean (academic) of IIM Calcutta, congratulated the Capacity Building Commissioni for its efforts to broad-base on-the-job learning for the country’s civil servants through knowledge partnership. “Through this partnership, we at IIM Calcutta wish to support the commission in its important national endeavour of creating well-trained human resources. We look forward to working closely over the next two years to build a knowledge repository for the benefit of all civil servants.”
