Hybrid classrooms inaugurated at IIT Hyderabad

Eight classrooms at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad have been upgraded to enable hybrid learning.

The modernisation was carried out by Cyient Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative Inventing and Innovating in Technology for Humanity.

B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, founder chairman and board member of Cyient and chairman of the board of governors at IIT Hyderabad and IIT Roorkee inaugurated the facility in the presence of IIT Hyderabad director B.S. Murty.

The hybrid classrooms are equipped to stream live the in-person class activities, integrating remote and in-person students in a singular environment. Hybrid learning can improve the flexibility and customisation of classes, the accessibility of education and the use of digital tools during any course proceedings. This experience will facilitate better teaching/ learning environment for faculty and students.

Murty welcomed the initiative by Cyient Foundation to upgrade the academic facilities at Hyderabad. “We are thankful to Cyient Foundation for the generous gesture and hope more such help will be forthcoming convert every classroom at IIT Hyderabad into hybrid classrooms. This is a small step towards the Digital India Mission. We have recently launched a portal ‘Giving to IIT Hyderabad’ Where many such opportunities to support the institute have been listed,” he said.

Reddy said hybrid learning was the way forward. “The unprecedented circumstances of the last two years have accelerated digital transformation of education and learning. The new norm will be hybrid learning and classrooms will need smart boards and interactive virtual platforms. I am delighted IIT Hyderabad has initiated actions to create new classrooms. Cyient Foundation is pleased to support this game-changing initiative for efficient and effective learning,” he said.
