The West Bengal Higher Secondary 2022 Examinations will be held from April 2 to 26 in offline mode after two years.
On the first day, students will be appearing for the Bengali (A), English (A), Hindi (A), Nepali (A), Urdu, Santhali, Odia, Telugu, Gujarati or Punjabi examination.
The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), which conducts the Class XII board examinations, had earlier scheduled the exams from April 2 to April 20 but the dates were revised twice to avoid overlap with the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main exams and by-polls.
Almost 7.45 lakhs students are expected to appear for the HS examinations this year. Students will be writing the examinations from home centres (respective schools) this year.
Schools have been asked to adopt strict COVID-safety measures such as regular sanitisation, social distancing and mandatory use of face masks during the exams.
Examination centres have also been asked to ensure strict invigilation. Stringent action will be taken against cheating, harassment of teachers, damage to school property and use of other unfair means, the HS council has said.
“Schools may lose registration in case they fail to maintain decorum. In extreme cases, the results of the school can be withheld. Similarly, if a student is found with phones or using any unfair means, their papers will be cancelled immediately for the day,” said Chiranjib Bhattacharya, president, WBCHSE.
The HS examinations are being held after a year’s gap. The 2020 examinations began before the pandemic but had to scrapped midway because of the outbreak. In 2021, the exams were cancelled amid the second wave. Students of both the batches were marked on the basis of their performances in the previous years.
