"It is a wonderful initiative by the Higher Education Department of West Bengal government. It will help the colleges prepare for NAAC accreditation and get good grades. This training will help the colleges in improving their grades by at least 20-30 percent," said Roy.

The Principals and Coordinators were provided training by Debasish Biswas, university mentor and Inspector of Colleges at the University of Calcutta, Dr Jaydeep Sarangi, Principal of New Alipore College and state-level mentor and Dr Samrat Bhattacharya, and Professor of Scottish Church College and district-level mentor.

"The Higher Education Department has appointed Principals and IQAC coordinators of the colleges getting good grades in NAAC accreditation as state-level and district-level mentors.  They are well acquainted with the procedures of NAAC accreditation and will guide other colleges in securing a good grade," said Jaydip Mukhopadhyay.

"The workshop is being conducted so that the colleges where NAAC accreditation has already expired or is due to expire soon, can secure better grades when they are re-evaluated. Hands-on training is being provided by the mentors to the Principals and IQAC Coordinators of 36 colleges of North Kolkata including our college," said Anupama Chowdhury, the Principal of Women's College, Calcutta.

The event ended with the valedictory speech by Dr Sharmila Mitra, Principal of Behala College (Member of the NAAC Peer Team). On Wednesday, a similar session was held at Basanti Devi College which witnessed the participation of colleges from South Kolkata.
