School of Law, Galgotias University, has collaborated with the Universal Institute of Legal Studies and Law Curators to launch the Advanced Course on Judicial Service and Professional Advocacy.
The course is mentored by Justice J.R. Midha (retired), who has joined the university as adviser and professor emeritus.
Justice Midha’s aims to reform legal education and the course is a step towards that initiative.
Preeti Bajaj, the vice-chancellor of Galgotias University, gave the welcome address at the inauguration ceremony. She appreciated the efforts of the School of Law and mentoring of Justice J.R. Midha to make this innovative value-added course a reality.
Bajaj said Galgotias University is driven by innovation and entrepreneurship and works on the philosophy of ‘student first’. She further talked about how value-added courses can skill our students better in tune with the National Education Policy (NEP).
Justice Midha also shared his vision to reform legal education and encouraged students to develop their advocacy skills by developing communication skills and logical or legal reasoning. Midha stressed the importance of rational thinking in developing professional advocacy and also appreciated the management of Galgotias University for providing this free course.
Manish Arora, the director of Universal Publications, and S.P Jain, the founder of Law Curators, also spoke at the ceremony.
Arora briefed the students on the entire process of judicial service competitive examination and emphasised the need to be updated on recent case laws.
Jain addressed students on the importance of hard work, dedication and perseverance to prepare oneself for the prestigious service.
Aradhana Galgotia, director of operations, shared the vision of the management for the School of Law and assured that the management will provide all necessary support to the law school.
Namita Singh Malik, dean and professor, School of Law, Galgotias University, ended the ceremony with a vote of thanks
The inauguration ceremony was attended by all students of the Law school, including LLM students and PhD scholars. The ceremony was held online through Zoom meetings.
