Delhi University (DU) will conduct open book examinations for students of odd semesters – I, III, V and VII – in March and April, the varsity stated in a notification recently.
However, the exams for students of even semesters – II, IV, VI and VIII – will be held in physical mode in the months of May and June, the notification further said.
In an open book examination, students can take reference from notes and textbooks while writing their papers.
"It is hereby informed to all concerned that the University of Delhi on the basis of recommendations of the Working Group for Examinations has decided that all the examinations which shall be conducted during the month of March and April 2022 (Odd Semester Examinations I/III/V/VII), shall be conducted in Open Book Examination (OBE) mode," the notification from DU stated.
"Further, all the examinations which shall be conducted during the month of May 2022 and onwards (Even Semester Examinations II/IV/VI/VIII) shall be conducted in Physical Mode," it added.
DU recently decided to resume on-campus classes in all institutions under the varsity from February 17. Announcing the resumption of offline classes, the university asked outstation students to plan their travel to Delhi in a way that they get to spend at least three days in isolation before attending physical classes.

Meanwhile, the Executive Council (EC) of the varsity approved the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) formulated in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) in its meeting on February 11. The UGCF was earlier passed by the Academic Council amid dissent by at least 11 members of the council.
