The 30th edition of the Apeejay Anand Art Workshop, which had the theme “Sakaratmak Parivartan - How has my life changed?” saw the participation of over 1,000 students between nine and 12 years of age. The young artists signed up from all over India and some from the neighbouring countries such as Nepal and Pakistan as well.
At the workshop, which was held on February 26, 2022, students had to paint to describe life after the pandemic, how it was full of challenges and yet had infused positivity in our lives.
As part of an international exchange programme, the students from other countries attended the workshop online while those in Kolkata were physically present at the venue on Park Street.
“The world has seen unprecedented changes in the last two years of the pandemic. As we slowly gear up to get back to the new normal, our first priority is its students,” said Kiranjit Singh Pannu, CEO, Apeejay Surendra Schools.
Students from various corners of India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Gujrat, Haryana, Madurai, and Hyderabad joined the workshop virtually. Children were provided A4-sized papers along with pencils, erasers, and pastels to explore their creativity.
Schools such as DPS Kalinga, Cuttack, The BSS School, Kolkata, Gokhale Memorial School, Kolkata, Sudhir Memorial School, Haldia Govt-sponsored Vivekananda Vidyamandir, among others were part of the programme.
Surojit Chatterjee, lead singer of popular Bengali band Bhoomi, song-writer, and music composer, was also present in order to encourage the young participants.
At the end of the workshop, winners were awarded prizes and certificates. All other participants were given gift hampers of stationery items.
