CBSE will conduct its term II board exams in March-April, depending on the COVID-19 situation; datesheets are yet to released

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a public advisory warning students against fake information circulating on various online platforms about its term-II board exams for classes X and XII.

A circular issued by the board read, “It has been noticed that a few online media platforms are circulating incorrect information and confusing audiences, using expressions such as Breaking News about major exam pattern changes in classes X and XII.”

The advisory categorically added, “It is clarified in the interest of students that the board had announced the changes in the exam pattern in July last year. First term exams have already been completed and the format of exams for the second term will also be as announced last year. The public is therefore advised to only check the official website for latest and authentic information.”

After evaluating student results based on internal assessments for the past two years owing to the pandemic situation, CBSE decided to break up its 2021-22 academic session into two parts – term I and term II – for ease of assessment.

The term I examination had been conducted in offline mode at various centres across the country during November-December 2021. The board has not yet mentioned any specific date for declaring the results.

The CBSE Term I classes X and XII results will contain a minimum 50% weightage in the final result and will also include internal assessment marks in various subjects awarded to students by schools.

The board has decided not to fail any student in term I. However, absentees will not be provided any average marks this time. Calculation of the final score card will be decided by the board.

Also, the final mark sheets with the term I and term II scores will be released only after the term-II examination.

The CBSE Term II examinations are due to be conducted in March-April, but the final decision will be taken depending on the COVID-19 situation. The timetable for these exams will be released soon on the official website, cbse.nic.in.

The board has not released any sample question papers for the term II exams yet. But the papers will be based on both multiple choice questions and long questions.
