The creative commons license has been adopted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which will assist in making the AICTE study materials accessible to both Indian and international students. The license was chosen in accordance with the UNESCO policy on open educational resources.
In accordance with the copyright owner's intellectual property rights, the AICTE will offer open educational resources and grant the public the freedom to access, reuse, repurpose, adapt, and redistribute educational content.
The license has currently been adopted, according to a press release, for the second-year books that have been uploaded on the e-Kumbh portal in English and other Indian languages. The remaining second, third, and fourth-year texts will eventually be adopted in 12 other Indian languages along with English under the license.
To allow students, staff, and institutions all around the world to access engineering books created by AICTE, the licensing is in line with sustainable development goal (SDG) 4 - Quality Education.
