In a significant development, the West Bengal Higher Secondary (HS) merit list has undergone considerable changes following the regular PPS (Post Publication Scrutiny), and PPR (Post Publication Review) of the exam papers. This recalibration has led to the inclusion of three additional students in the merit list, highlighting several discrepancies in the initial evaluation process.

The review process revealed multiple instances where students had not been awarded the correct marks. Consequently, between May 8 and June 11, revised results were published, adding 15 more students to the merit list. Currently, the top 10 in the HS merit list includes 73 students.

The HS results were originally announced on May 8, listing 58 names in the top 10 merit list—comprising 23 female and 35 male students. However, the list expanded after the release of the ‘tatkal’ scrutiny and review results with the inclusion of 12 more students, bringing the count of the top 10 merit holders to 70. With the latest adjustments, three more students have secured their places in the prestigious list.

This year, 20,653 subjects were applied for scrutiny (PPS), resulting in changes for 2,986. Meanwhile, 40,495 subjects were applied for review (PPR), with 10,603 subjects experiencing changes in scores. The remaining subjects saw no changes in their marks. The total number of applicants was 26, 468 which included 13,865 female candidates and the rest 12,603 were male.

New Entries in the Top 10 List

Notably, Soham Saha from Mathabhanga High School, Cooch Behar, rose from 482 to 489 marks, securing the eighth position. Pranjal Ghosh from Bishnupur High School, Bankura, advanced from 484 to 488 marks, clinching the ninth position. Satyaki Sinha from AC Institution, Malda moved from 486 to 487 marks, achieving the tenth rank.

This year's scrutiny and review process underscores the importance of accuracy and fairness in evaluations, ensuring deserving students receive the recognition they merit.
