ACIC IIT (ISM) Foundation reaches out to women entrepreneurs from humble backgrounds

Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) IIT (ISM) Foundation conducted an outreach programme for aspiring women entrepreneurs from underprivileged backgrounds.

During the day-long session held earlier this week at New Lecture Hall Complex (NLHC) at the tech cradle, IIT (ISM) in Dhanbad technocrats interacted and gave them tips on self-employment opportunities, sustainable growth, embellishing the products and also assured of helping them in getting market linkages for their products.

The session also saw the ACIC IIT (ISM) Foundation providing necessary equipment and materials which would help the women to get self-employed and attain sustainable livelihood.

“It was a small step towards promoting women entrepreneurship and empowerment and was aptly named as “Her Vision, Our Vision”,” said senior faculty member, Rajni Singh.

The programme is a sequel to the tomato sauce training-cum-workshop organised on December 9 and 10, 2021, which had benefited over 70 women, mostly domestic helpers.

 On Tuesday, February 15, over 20 participating women were provided with the necessary technical knowledge on making tomato sauce and provided with simple equipment which would help in manufacture and packaging of the products and also edible chemicals which would be used as preservatives in the food product.

Participating women were given information about employment-related schemes of the government by MSME Dhanbad staff Sujit Kumar, scientist agriculture science centre, Sheen Singh and Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) official Mantosh.

IIT ISM director Professor Rajiv Shekhar also addressed the women on the occasion.

Significantly, Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad [IIT (ISM) Dhanbad] had been entrusted for the establishment of Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, Government of India to encourage a spirit of entrepreneurship in the underserved/unserved regions by providing enabling infrastructure and facilitating environment for innovation.
