The four-day legal festival organized by The Royal School of Law and Administration concluded on 14 October. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge, Honourable Supreme Court of India, while delivering his address as the Chief Guest in the Valedictory Function called upon the students to make the university a place not just for teaching and learning, but a place to be for unfiltered questioning, debates and discussions. Touching upon the beauty and strength of the Indian Constitution, Justice Bhuyan said that the essence of the constitution is ‘Equality’. Making a significant observation, Justice Bhuyan expressed his concern about the contemporary trends in criminalization of society as witnessed in the interpretations of the free expressions of opinions and dissent. Justice Bhuyan expressed his confidence in the invincibility of the judiciary in the face of majoritarian views.

A number of judges of the Gauhati High Court, both incumbent and retired, and senior advocates from the Gauhati High Court and the Supreme Court of India-Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Ahuja, Honourable Vice Chancellor, National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam; Justice B.P. Kataky, Former Judge, Gauhati High Court, and Former Chairperson, Assam State Police Accountability Commission; Justice Rumi Phukan (Retd.), Gauhati High Court, Justice Kalyan Rai Surana, Judge, Gauhati High Court, Senior Advocate Ashok Saraf, Gauhati High Court, Senior Advocate Angshuman Borah, Gauhati High Court, Senior Advocate H.R.A. Chaudhury, Gauhati High Court and Former President, Bar Council, attended the ceremony, alongside Dr. A.K. Pansari, Chancellor, The Assam Royal Global University, Sri Ankur Pansari, Executive Vice President, Prof. (Dr.) Rohit Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor, Deans of various schools, senior officials of the university and members of the faculty.
