Origami, or the art of folding paper, has its origin way back in Japan. Through this intriguing art form, one can easily create paper models and give them the shape of their choice. The history of Origami dates back several centuries and has been carried forward by generations of practitioners who practise this art form diligently.

The Kolkata Origami Center, established in November 2012, holds a prestigious lineage. Inaugurated by Sensei Kazuo Kobayashi, former President of the International Origami Center in Tokyo, the centre embodies a community-driven approach to origami.

The workshop, held recently, immersed children in the fundamentals of origami, exploring its diverse applications and significance in the modern world. They learned to create an array of models including cats, rabbits, peacocks, roosters, boxes, hats, cranes, link chains, and more, under the expert guidance of the mentors.

"Children participating in the workshop enjoyed the art form and learnt about different applications of the art. I hope such workshops also continue in the future," said Chiroranjan Bose.
