The Techno India Group organised the third edition of Techno Olympica Knights from November 29 to December 4 at the Techno India Salt Lake main campus. The event witnessed participation from 67 schools from different parts of the state with over 1000 participants.
The prestigious event was inaugurated by Ms Piyali Basak, renowned mountaineer who scaled Mt Everest in 2022 without supplementary oxygen, Satyarup Siddhanta, also an eminent mountaineer and martial artist Premjit Sen.
The event, one of the biggest sporting extravaganza of the state, saw students participating in 14 sporting events including long jump, Discuss throw, Individual Race, Relay Race, FreeStyle Swimming, Relay Swimming, Archery, 5 a side Football, Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey and Chess.
“Remember three D's in your life; Dedication - Determination and Discipline, you will reach on zenith,” said Piyali Basak to the students participating at the sports.
She also emphasized on education along with extra curricular activities and passion for sports.
"Sports have an unparalleled ability to captivate our hearts and minds. Techno Olympica Knights has not just been a platform for athletic excellence; it has also been a celebration of diversity and unity. The coming together of schools from various backgrounds, each bringing its unique energy , has enriched the tapestry of the competition," said Prof Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group.
The six-day sporting extravaganza took place at SAI (Sports Authority of India) and Spuddy Badminton Academy, Kolkata and concluded on December 4 with a gala closing ceremony at the Techno India main campus.
"A brilliant initiative by the Techno India Group for promoting sports at school level, indeed commendable," said Prof. Debanjan Banerjee, Dean - Media Science, Techno India, Salt Lake main campus.
The schools participating at the event included Calcutta International School, Heritage School, DPS New Town, St Thomas School, Chandannagar, Calcutta Boys' School, Bidya Bharati Girls' High School, Haryana Vidya Mandir, GD Birla Centre for Education among others.
