On 30th September, the Postgraduate Department of Education of St. Xavier's College Autonomous, Kolkata observed the Swachhta Special Campaign 3.0 under the proficient and skillful leadership of the Principal of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio SJ and the competent guidance of Dr. Swati Sarkar, Vice principal of the Postgraduate Department of Education of St. Xavier's College Autonomous, Kolkata. The students and faculty members of the Department partook wholeheartedly in the event by taking the Panch Pran Pledge followed by the Swachhta Pledge in the Postgraduate Department of Education of St. Xavier's College Autonomous, Kolkata.
Swachchata Special Campaign 3.0, upholds the motto of 'Swachchata Hi Seva' or 'Cleanliness is Service'. It is one of the most significant cleanliness campaigns undertaken by the government of India in recent times to spread awareness about community cleanliness and personal hygiene.
The Panch Pran pledge is a mark of the dedication that every citizen possesses to make India a developed country, to eliminate the mentality of slavery, to be proud of the rich heritage, to uphold unity and solidarity, to fulfill duties as citizens, and respect those who protect the nation.
The Swachchata pledge was a dream of Mahatma Gandhi. He dreamt of an India that was not only free but also clean and developed. As a token of honor towards the Father of the Nation, the Postgraduate Department of Education of St. Xavier's College Autonomous, Kolkata took a pledge to keep the country neat and clean in every aspect under the leadership of Fr. Dr. Dominic Savio SJ. It is the proud privilege of the Department to take the Swachh Bharat Pledge and instill the values of Cleanliness among the students to reinforce a change in society.
