Matches for Day 1 of the CISCE West Bengal and North East Regional Football Tournament for Girls, 2023 concluded with La Martiniere for Girls, the host school, and DPS Megacity, winning in the semis. They will now be playing the finals on 13 July 2023, post-lunch.

The day's events were graced by the chief guest, Mr Manas Bhattacharya; Mr Supriyo Dhar, Secretary, La Martiniere schools, Kolkata; Mr John Stephen, Acting principal, La Martiniere For Boy's, Kolkata and Mrs Rupkatha Sarkar, Principal, La Martiniere For Girls', Kolkata.

Mrs Sarkar, speaking about the initiative, said, "Football gives students character and a sense of belonging."

The chief guest, Mr Bhattacharya also shared his views. He said that sports merit usually emerges at the school level and hence, such initiatives to identify talents and help them hone their skills can go a long way in encouraging future sports-people. Sports also develops discipline, respect and team spirit, which helps students excel later in life, irrespective of the sphere.
