The BSS School Eco Warriors Club celebrated ‘Earth Day’ on 22 April, 2024, on the school premises. The event consisted of a special morning assembly organised by the teachers in charge of The Eco Warriors Club along with the students and Eco Warrior Club members of classes IX, X and XII.
The program began with a beautiful hymn on nature – ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’. It was followed by an introductory speech on ‘Earth Day 2024’ – its origin, significance and what role mankind has to play in order to protect mother nature. Next, the students put up a skit, based on the theme for Earth Day 2024 – ‘ Planet v/s Plastic’. The actors dressed up as ‘Planet Earth’ and ‘Devil Plastic’ and engaged in a short dialogue session.
In the final scene of the skit, students came on stage upholding placards with messages promoting environmental conservation. This was followed by an elaborate PowerPoint presentation by the Eco Warriors Club members (class XII). The presentation showcased the importance of reducing and reusing plastic and conserving the environment.
To conclude the day’s program, the President of the Eco Warriors Club conducted an oath taking ceremony regarding the reduce, reuse and recycle of plastic items. The entire school joined in this pledge ceremony and all students and teachers wore eco-friendly green ribbons to support the cause of environmental conservation and celebrate ‘Earth Day 2024’.
