SPK Jain Futuristic Academy hosted an interactive educational session presented by Dr. Sugata Mitra at the school premise. Dr. Mitra, an author, transformative leader and winner of the Ted Prize, spoke about his innovative and world-famous teaching methodology on ‘self-learning’.
Shatabdi Bhattacharya, Principal of Jain Futuristic Academy said, “JFA has been founded with a vision to create a free and joyful learning environment, where every child will be encouraged to learn through exploratory experiences and experimentation. Learning in JFA will be a stress-free journey for the children wherein the ultimate aim would lie in creating self-motivated leaders and life- long learners.”
Dr. Sugata Mitra said, “The future of education is that teachers need to ask questions. There should be no examinations. The only assessment should be in computing, comprehension and communication. Today we have a missing subject - the Internet. There are no textbooks or teachers who teach this subject. But this is the only way to learn - through self-learning.”
Darshan Mutha, Director, SPJ Jain Futuristic Academy on this occasion stated that “It is a very rare opportunity for the students, guardians and teachers to participate in this session of self-learning by Dr. Sugata Mitra as he is an expert in this."
Jain Futuristic Academy is housed in a state-of-the-art 1.6 lakh sq. ft. building located in a 2-Acre Campus in Kolkata. The school has been designed in a way which promotes learning not just within the walls of the classroom but in every corner of the campus. They have created multiple clusters for different levels with in-built courtyards and play facilities. Each cluster is equipped to cater to the needs of its respective children in the defined age group.
