The Chanakya National Law University in Bihar has decided to cut down on the number of mandatory research papers per semester to reduce the stress of students.

The law varsity has introduced a policy of academic flexibility in the courses. It will help the students learn at their own pace and will reduce the course-related stress at the campus.

“It is necessary to reduce the stress on our students to maintain good mental and physical health while aiding their learning. They must not be bogged down by the course requirements. Hence we have cut the requirement of six research papers per semester to just one,” CNLU vice-chancellor Faizan Mustafa told The Telegraph on Monday.

Mustafa added that the moot court memorials and papers published by the students would be accepted as research projects.

The CNLU executive council has created positions in the emerging fields of law related to shipping and maritime, cyber security and digital forensics, land, taxation, bankruptcy and insolvency and others. It has also approved an academic and research incentive policy under which positions of full-time research professors and post-doctoral fellows have been created.
