One of the most anticipated releases of 2024 now has a date. Mufasa: The Lion King is making a silver screen appearance. The prequel that is directed by Barry Jenkins will take the audience through the nascent days of Mufasa and his brother Scar.

Here’s what we know about the cast who have lent their voices:

·        Aaron Pierre is Mufasa, Seth Rogen is Pumbaa and Billy Eichner is Timon

·        Kelvin Harrison Jr. is the voice of Taka and Kagiso Lediga is Young Rafiki

·        John Kani is Rafiki and Donald Glover is Simba, to name a few

Blue Ivy Carter as Kiara — the daughter of King Simba and Queen Nala and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala are the new entrants to the Pride Lands.

Walt Disney Studios gave a sneak peek into the storyline of the film. They wrote, “Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka — the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny — their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.”

The film releases on December 20, making the pre Christmas mood even more special. Save the date already, and see the poster here.
