Winter Flower Show 2013 will start on the lawns of Agri-Horticulture Society of India on Alipore Road this Friday. The inauguration will take place at 3pm. On Saturday and Sunday, the show will be on from 7am to 7pm.
“The stress will be on Chrysanthemums as the smaller variety does not last till our annual show in February,” said Nirupam Sen, chief executive officer and secretary of the Society. There will also be Dahlia, Rose, Gladioli, Bougainvillea and cut flowers on view.
Children will take part in a sit-and-draw contest with a nature-related theme on Saturday. Though most have already registered, walk-in entries will be allowed if age-proof can be produced. The contest will take place in three age groups.
Children will also be competing in potted plant and flower decoration contests. “We are trying to get children closer to nature,” Sen said.
