What: Spring Fest 2014, in association with The Telegraph

Where: Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur

When: January 23 to 26

A Red Bull Tour Bus featuring Undying Inc, MonkeyCap and Turnkey kicked off the celebration of Spring Fest 2014 on January 21.

Based on the theme The Great Indian Carnival — Dil Se Desi, IIT Kharagpur will be getting a new look this Spring Fest. The arena will be decorated with lanterns, kites, hand pipes and rickshaws. And if you are hanging around away from the arena, then, too, there will be colourful rickshaws to give you a celebratory feel. For the routes to the venues, look for handmade signboards.

From Himachal Pradesh to Chennai, more than 125 colleges will participate in the four-day fest. Pune-based rock band Agnee will set the stage on fire on the first night, followed by Underground Authority and folk-rock band Swarathma on Day 2.

The third night will see a power-packed performance by Vishal Dadlani’s Pentagram and Salim-Suleiman will end the fest with their performance. Apart from regular competition like Centrifuge, the inter-college dance competition, and Wildfire, the rock band competition, watch out for shows by nine international performers, including mentalist from Malaysia Chris Cheong, sword-swallower from Ireland Murray Mulloy and violinist from Portugal Jack Glatzer.

“Every year Spring Fest tries to do something different, so this year our major attraction is the performances by nine international artistes. After nine months of hard work finally we will see it all happening,” said Tushar Anand, event head of Spring Fest.
