The Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) observed the World Multiple Sclerosis Day with the support of mjunction on May 27. The event, held at the Avani Riverside Mall in Calcutta, was attended by patients of the neurological disease, their caregivers and guests and also Mir.

Multiple sclerosis is a common neurological disorder among young adults. Though the disease is not really curable, timely treatment can reduce severity and delay progression. MSSI plays a key role in providing support to patients and their caregivers, and the objective of today’s programme was to spread awareness on this auto immune, incurable and crippling neuro disease through entertainment.

Viresh Oberoi, the national president of MSSI and CEO & MD of mjunction Services Ltd said, “Living with a disorder such as multiple sclerosis cannot be easy and MSSI is doing yeoman’s service in supporting those afflicted live a life of dignity, resilience and courage. I appeal to everyone present here today to raise awareness about multiple sclerosis and do their own bit in supporting those who are fighting this battle.”

Wheel chairs, walking aids and medicines were distributed to the patients by MSSI. Special advantage cards were also given for senior citizens.

A performance by popular radio jockey Mir and his rock band Bandage wrapped up the evening.
