Calcutta: The ICSE council has pushed back by a year its decision to "conduct" the annual exams for students of classes IX and XI from 2018-19.

In a circular to school heads on Friday, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations said it would conduct the exams from 2019-20. "The Council has decided to defer its initiative of holding the annual examinations for classes IX & XI, scheduled to be conducted in November 2018 and February 2019, to November 2019 & February-March 2020," said the circular.

The council said the software needed for this was still in development and would need to be tested thoroughly before implementation.
