Sahoo to take up Bhoi role
Bhubaneswar: Anup Kumar Sahoo was appointed as the new deputy commissioner of police for Bhubaneswar following a major rejig of IPS officers in the state on Thursday.
Sahoo, a 2006-batch officer, will replace Satyabrata Bhoi who has been posted as the DIG, Northern Range, in Sambalpur.
The government moved 32 IPS officers, believed to be among the biggest IPS shuffles in the state, before the general elections.
Among those replaced are the superintendents of Mayurb-hanj, Ganjam, Angul, Berham-pur, Balasore, Bhad-rak, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal.
Sahoo was Jajpur police superintendent when he was shifted to neighbouring Bhadrak last April in the wake of a group clash in the district. Law and order, prevention of petty crimes such as snatching, loot and burglary would be the major challenges facing him. Sahoo has also served as the Puri superintendent.
Though Bhoi was promoted to the rank of DIG last December, he continued as Bhubaneswar's top cop as the government had not announced his replacement.
